NAKED GALLERY PARTY FEATURING THE FAGGET FAIRYS

Don’t miss out on a unique and provocative gallery party coming to the Copenhagen art scene. Keep your calendars free on Thursday, April 7th from 22:00 until 4:00 at KB18, located at Kødbyen 18 (http://www.facebook.com/kb18cph?sk=info). Showcasing naked artwork and photography from five very talented and progressive artists, please join us for a night of great art and music at this special charity event. Naked will feature a... hot DJ line-up, with special guests, The Fagget Fairys, along with Mai Shaarup, Bettie Bronx, DJ Vidukk and Bonnie and Clyde. All of the DJ's will so kindly be donating their work and time for this great cause.

This is a brand new type of party featuring the incredible work of Ingibjorg Torfadottir, Hallur Karlsson, Thora Margretardottir, Tom McKenzie and Bertil Melhof-Pedersen. With inspiration drawn from the power of being naked, all art depicts men and women exposed.

A percentage of the proceeds will be distributed to Trailerpark, a live music venue hosted by the ArtRebels crew in July. ArtRebels is an organization making a profound impact for the greater good of the Copenhagen Community and surrounding area, (www.artrebels.com). Don't miss out on this incredible night. The party is open to the public. 20 Kroner entrance fee at the door. Drink specials at the bar.

This event is sponsored by BIRNA, a fashion label for women. Three Elite models representing Birna will be distributing gift certificates and look books throughout the evening. We are also proud to announce that Birna will be donating two complimentary gift bags to the two best dressed females. Check out BIRNA at www.birna.net. Philip Crangi

Looking for inspiration? I got it right here. No one has really heard of Philip Crangi. He is a rustic dude specializing in rugged, weathered jewelry for men. I usually hate jewelry on men, but his tough pieces silence my doubts. Not only are his designs interesting, his personal style is really wicked too. He has really cool hair and is loaded with tattoos. In my opinion, tattoos should only be done in black. This is why I love Crangi's tattoo across his chest, which translates to, "I Regret Nothing." Well, neither do I Philip! Check him out for yourself! The Crangi Family Project is located in the Meatpacking District of New York.

THINGS THAT ARE COOL

I honestly can't believe I am writing this post because I hate trends, I try not to follow them and I think it is annoying that every fashion blog I read talks about TRENDS, TRENDS, TRENDS. My philosophy is be yourself, be original, have your own style and most importantly; be confident rocking it. I wouldn't call what I am posting today TRENDS because I rarely see peeps on the street wearing this, especially white jeans in the middle of winter, but these are the things I love and I hope you love them too.

For starters, navy blue mixed with black is dope. My friend from Oslo that went to Parson's with me always wore black and navy together and totally rocked it. The combination is different and NOT A TREND. But maybe you can start one by rocking it by your bad self.

Secondly, socks pulled over baggy trousers is really dope. I am really into tonal colors at the moment so if you rock a pair of dark trousers, offset it with a pair of socks that are a shade lighter. As the picture notes, belts around the socks also look dope. I love, love, love this!

Lastly, white jeans have always received controversy. I always remember my mom telling me that I couldn't wear white after Labour Day (US holiday). Who makes these rules? I've always loved white denim, especially when it looks used and rugged. I had the coolest pair specially made from Earnest Sewn and then my fat ass ripped them on the dance floor at Sway a few years ago. I've never replaced them but now I want to after seeing a pair rocked with a leather motorcycle jacket.

Although I am a hater, these are my loves. Stay tuned for my hates next time! Catch ya later skater...

PARIS VS NEW YORK

I am constantly in search of new inspiration and happened to come across this amazing blog, http://parisvsnyc.blogspot.com/. The concept behind the blog is delivered through the use of highly stylized graphic designs that compare the two very different and diverse cities. I have attached a few images that depict the conceptualization. In a way it makes me nostalgic for good ole New York, but on the other hand, I just have to think of all the annoyances (homeless people begging for cash, grouchy UES ladies that have never worked a day in their life, pretentious wanna be's at the club, white collar bankers that tell you how much they make before they ask you for your name, overpriced rent, overcrowded retardoness, psycho girls that stalk you, rude cab drivers...shall I continue???)and I am blistfully happy that I have uprooted my life to Scandinavia. I think we all can see that I am in Paris's corner! Anyway, these graphics are mad funny and if you have ever experienced either city, you will conclude that the images are very accurate indeed. It would behoove you to check, check, check it!

Are you into nails or cigs?

This is sooooo accurate! Good one!

SEX SYMBOL: MAE WEST

"Is that a gun in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" - Mae West. This is one of many quotes by the All-American sex pot! A Brooklyn-bred actress, screen writer and Vaudeville performer, West extended boundaries, pushed sex appeal and fought for gay rights. She offended many and often felt the repercussions of opposition. She was once sentenced to 10 days in jail for moral persecution on Roosevelt Island and upon completion of her sentence, West took the warden and his wife out to dinner, later bragging that she wore silk underwear while awaiting her release.

We need more Mae Wests' in the world, people that fight for what they believe in and never give in to the ways of society and what society deems as right. Her legacy lives on and has inspired many, including artists, such as Salvador Dali, whom recreated a magnificent painting of Mae West, which is featured below. In 1980, West passed, but the legacy lives on. I am totally inspired by women like this and I hope you are too:-)
